Meeting Description:
A one-day colloquium on the history of linguistics to be held in Central London, UK. Papers on all topics relevant to the history of the study, teaching, analysis, description and theorising of language and languages are welcome.
Postgraduates, early career scholars and other deserving candidates are encouraged to consider applying for the Martin Burr Travel Bursary to support the costs of attending the colloquium (https://www.henrysweet.org/martin-burr-travel-bursary). To be considered for a travel bursary, please send an email to a.linn@westminster.ac.uk by the registration deadline of 15 March 2024, providing the following information: Name Email address Title of your paper Institutional affiliation Position held (e.g. postgraduate student, lecturer, postdoctoral fellow, etc.) Please provide a detailed estimate of your anticipated travel costs Please outline briefly why you would like to be considered for a Martin Burr travel bursary. Please tell us any other sources of funding available to you.
Call for Papers:
Papers should be either of 20 minutes’ duration with 10 minutes for discussion or panels of 45 minutes with more than one presentation on a particular topic. Papers may be on any topic in the History of Linguistics. Proposals of no more than 300 words, including the names of all presenters, should be sent to the colloquium organiser, Prof Andrew Linn (a.linn@westminster.ac.uk) by Friday 8 December 2023.
