The Department of French and Italian at Tulane University seeks to hire a Professor of Practice to teach courses in Haitian Creole, Caribbean Studies, and French language and culture, beginning July 1, 2018.

The teaching load is three courses per semester and will typically include one or two courses in Haitian Creole as well as courses in French language, literature, or linguistics, or some aspect of Caribbean language, literature, history, or culture. The teaching of Haitian Creole is an integral part of the vibrant francophone studies program within the Department of French and Italian and of Tulane’s Latin American Studies program, which is one of the top-ranked programs in the U.S. We are especially interested in candidates who can increase enrollments in our Haitian Creole courses and who are interested in helping to expand the program. Initial two-year appointment with possibility of renewal with three-year contracts thereafter. Salary is $50,000. PhD required for appointment as Professor of Practice.
